As a three-time All-American and NCAA record holder for rushes per game, Joe is also the last college football player to have 100 tackles and three 1,000 yard rushing seasons in the same career! He is a Wayne State Hall of Famer and assistant coach for three state championship teams at his alma mater Orchard Lake St. Mary’s. Joe was a nine-time letterman and starter in Football, Basketball and Baseball, All-State in Football and Baseball, and won both Football and Baseball full scholarships to play in college. He was the broadcast color analyst for Wayne State Football on the radio until 2012, Comcast and Charter “Game of the Week” broadcasts and Sports Features for TCI Cable. He remains active in multimedia sports productions with GoughDrop Media and Indian Trail Productions.

Only one Detroit Lions linebacker in the 90’s could catch Desmond Howard… And his name was “Beerman”. Tom Beer is the last Detroit Lion to start games on both offense and defense. He played fullback in front of GOAT running back Barry Sanders, and backed up a GOAT linebacker in Chris Spielman. The Beerman starred in basketball and football at Elkton Pigeon Bayport high school (Thumb Country) and won college scholarships in both sports. He also won the televised Spring Break dunk contest in 1993 earning the nickname from the Bill’s Jim Kelly “Beer with Extra Hops”.
